The TUM JazzBand Winter Concert 2019

It was amaaaazing!
That should not be an exaggeration when we write about this memorable Saturday evening in the TUM Audimax. That is because this year's annual concert was by far the biggest, most inspiring and excellent concert that the TUM JazzBand has ever played! We would like to thank the almost 1000 visitors for this magical atmosphere. Under these conditions, it was a breeze for the TUM JazzBand to play its best Jazz & Fonk during their set. Supported by their three singers, the band presented a mix of swing, ballads, and groovy tunes. Towards the end, Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" brought the mood to a boil, just to be finished off with "Lingus" by the current heroes of the Jazz-Fusion (Snarky Puppy), after which the audience was given a refreshing break.
The second part of the evening was designated to the 25 musicians of the Landes-Jugendjazzorchester Bayern. With the support of their vocal quartet "The Sharpest Four", they lived up to their reputation as the finest young players in the Bavarian jazz scene. The band had prepared a phenomenal set of contemporary big band arrangements of well-known pieces. They were only held up by their bandleader Harald Rüschenbaum when he encouraged the audience to make spontaneous clapping or singing performances. Altogether, an exuberant mood was guaranteed, until the audience found themselves dancing to Joe Zawinul's "Birdland" as the evening was drawing to a close.
Anyone in attendance will surely remember the evening for a long time to come, and to the ones that couldn't make it we promise: there will be a next time!
